Summerhill Bowling Club Pavilion Improvements

Ainsworth Spark Associates were appointed in December 2025 to revisit earlier proposals for Summerhill Pavilion and develop a coordinated scheme addressing accessibility, toilet provision, and acoustic performance.

Working closely with the Trust and engaging with the local planning and conservation teams, the design has evolved through community consultation and feedback. The resulting proposals deliver significant improvements within the constraints of the sloping site, including step-free access from the car park to the Pavilion and surrounding green, upgraded and more flexible toilet facilities, enhanced circulation, and improved access to the stage for wheelchair users.

The scheme also introduces a new glazed entrance lobby, internal reconfiguration to maximise space efficiency, and targeted acoustic enhancements to improve sound quality and support hearing-impaired users. External works include an extended terrace, improved landscaping, accessible routes, and sustainable features such as potential photovoltaic panels.
