Overview:
Completed in 2012, the Beacon is an award winning mixed use, multi-cultural community centre in the west end of Newcastle on the site of a former fire station. It achieved a “Very Good” BREAAM rating.
The development includes a large lettable events room with Halal and Kosher appropriate associated kitchens on the top floor. The rest of the building incorporates artisan units, a café, nursery, I.T. suite, training rooms and meeting rooms, as well as an outdoor space for markets, all arranged around a triple-height central atrium.
Brightly coloured glass panels and internal paintwork visible through the atrium glass draws attention to this focus of the local community.
