A scheme for student accommodation at Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. Accommodation for students in Nigeria can be limited, often with numerous students sharing single rooms.
The scheme provided rooms to UK standards, grouped around a communal courtyard. Thick, heavy walls and natural daylighting and ventilation were incorporated to help control the internal environment in response to the extreme temperature and high rainfall of the local area. Renewable energy generation technologies and rain water harvesting was also proposed as power can be erratic in the area.
