Overview:
The only 1st class cricket ground built to test match standards on a green field site in 100 years. Durham County Cricket Club has been an ongoing project over a number of years with phases covering the first stands and administration blocks to various extensions, in-fills, conferencing facilities, retail spaces, pitch improvements, replay/ score screens and the world class media centre.
The site is sensitive, on the River Wear floodplain and in site of and with views to the imposing Lumley Castle, so great care has been taken to mitigate problems with water, protect the ecology of the floodplain and preserve views to the castle, whilst providing an excellent facility for cricket in the North East.
