Overview:
A & G Marshall Optometrists have practiced in Cramlington since 1992. After many years based in the shopping centre, they have now moved to the refurbished Old Church, giving them more space, more light and, refreshingly, outside views!
The Church had already undergone changes from its original design, having been used as a restaurant and bar before standing empty for a number of years. These previous incarnations had resulted in adjustments to the original street frontage and the insertion of an upper floor.
We worked with the clients to develop their thoughts into coherent design drawings, emphasising the lovely upper floor windows and opening up a new stairwell to draw light down from them into the lower floor. We were involved with design, detailing, change of use application, conservation area consent and liaising with the client’s shopfitters to ensure a smooth construction process.
