2-3 Exchange Place

Whilst on a visit to Middlesborough one of the team managed to take a great shot of the completed facade renovations to, 2-3 Exchange Place in the up-and-coming Middlesborough heritage quarter.

This is the first stage to complete as part of a wider mixed-use development, which will breathe life into this historic slice of Middlesborough town centre.

Ainsworth Spark Associates provided expert guidance to secure planning permission and listed building consent, for the Grade II listed former Post Office building. Which enabled vital brick and stonework repairs to progress. Maintaining the building’s envelope for years to come.

Additionally, specialist tiles with a unique flower motif were sourced to replace those damaged over time. The scheme also reintroduced sash windows to the street facing elevation to compliment the Victorian-built context.

The project was partially funded by Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) grant funding. Which has also seen the practice complete works in North Shields and Sunderland.
